Dr Ave Kotze

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I offer both face-to-face and online psychological therapy for adults and couples.

My approach is relational and integrative, grounded in the belief that our connections—to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us—play a vital role in how we experience life and how we heal. I aim to create a compassionate, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as we explore the challenges you are facing.

I have experience working with a wide range of emotional difficulties, including grief and loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, and OCD. Whatever brings you to therapy, my focus is on understanding your story rather than simply identifying “what’s wrong.” Drawing on relational psychodynamic and systemic approaches, alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor my work to meet your individual needs and goals.

I have a particular interest in supporting people through life transitions such as retirement, menopause, and changes in cognitive or physical health. These times can evoke feelings of uncertainty, grief, or loss of identity, and I’m passionate about helping people navigate them with self-compassion, meaning, and renewed connection.
