Chartered and Clinical Psychologist
BSc Hons • D.Clin.Psychol • Dip Clin Neuro
Independent Practitioner affiliated with Gloucestershire Psychology Services
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, regulated by Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist. I have over 28 years of experience of offering psychological therapy to adults in various contexts in the NHS and in independent practice. I offer in-person appointments in Cheltenham and also offer online sessions.
Psychological Therapy
When working with individuals I use my experience, training, and skills to look beyond the problems or diagnosis to understand the unique context and needs of each person, including their, values, personality, and strengths. Through this, I aim to help people work out any blocks to achieving their goals and improving their relationships, enabling them to experience a more satisfying and fulfilled life.
I have specialist training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). I am also skilled in Compassionate Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I blend all of these approaches, among others, as required to meet the needs of each person. Through my background in Neuropsychology, I am also aware of connections between the brain, nervous system, body health and emotions, and the effects of these complex interactions on overall well-being.
Through a kind and accepting therapeutic relationship, I work with people to help them engage with all of their feelings without judgment. With authentic emotions freed up, difficult emotions and past traumatic experiences can be processed, leading in turn to a clearer connection to positive emotions and a re-connection to personal strengths.
Family Support
In addition to individual therapy, I also offer support to families when one of their members is experiencing mental health or emotional difficulties. I have a special interest in assisting families where dementia is an issue.
Consultation, Supervision and Mentoring
I offer supervision and mentoring to Psychologists, Counsellors, and other Health Professionals. Please get in touch to discuss needs or requirements.
