What we do…

info@glospsychology.co.uk

Clinical Psychologists are health care professionals who have undergone a broad and intensive post graduate training at doctorate level. Their aim is to enhance psychological well being to individuals and within organisations.

We offer specialist assessments, consultation, supervision and training and are experienced in several models of intervention (including different forms of psychological therapy). By getting to know you through assessment and the development of a formulation of your difficulties, we tailor an approach to suit your individual needs and the changes that you would like to make in your life. Diagnosis can sometimes form part of discussions but is not the main focus. We are not medical doctors and do not prescribe medication.

Psychological Therapy

Psychological therapy is a way of helping people to work through a range of emotional, relational and mental health difficulties. It provides a confidential space to meet regularly to talk about issues that may be causing suffering and distress. There are several different types of talking therapies (e.g. CBT, psychodynamic psychotherapy), which have been well researched.

Psychological therapy is focused on the understanding of your difficulties to work through them, and may be helpful for a wide-range of problems including but not limited to :-

  • Problems with your mood
  • Problems with anxiety and panic
  • Childhood adversity/trauma
  • Post-traumatic stress (PTSD)
  • Grief, loss and bereavement
  • Low confidence and self-esteem issues
  • Relationship difficulties (e.g. difficulties forming and/or maintaining relationships)
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Phobias
  • Harmful ways of coping with distress
  • Medically unexplained symptoms

Individuals may also choose to enter psychological therapy for personal growth and development.
